We remember Robert. He was at the time working for Napa auto parts and delivered parts to us.

Myself and my dog Trooper had years of engagements with Robert. He was always happy and bringing a joke into the shop office while bringing us our needed materials. Never to busy to give Trooper some pets.

Robert was a great guy, clearly family man always updating us on his grandkids and family.

He will always be remembered and missed.

Robert used to come to my shop to deliver parts from Napa. He quickly became friend with my dog Trooper who was faithfully with me at my shop everyday.

He was always a delightful man with lots of funny jokes, talk of his family and grandchildren and stories of the past.

Even though our relationship was limited to my business, I felt like I knew him my whole life. I guess that's just the type of guy he was.

TO ALL HIS LOVED ONES, WIFE,CHILDREN, GRANDCHILDREN, GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, HIS SISTER, MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS! UNCLE BOB WAS MY FAVORITE RELATIVE! FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT DON'T KNOW I AM CHRISSY LYNN MARRIED TO BILLY (WILLIAM MACCOLLUM LYNN) HIS SISTER (BARBARA'S) SON. HE WAS ALWAYS SO JOLLY AND SWEET AND ALWAYS PICKED ME UP AND GAVE ME THE BEST BEAR HUG AND WOULD SWING ME AROUND! AS I GOT OLDER THIS WAS A LITTLE HARDER TO DO AS I ALSO GOT A LITTLE HEAVIER BUT HE SAID NO PROBLEM HE COULD STILL DO IT AND I COUNTED ON IT! HE WAS THE MOST DELIGHTFUL MAN EVER! MY REGRET IS THAT MY GRANDSON WILL NOT GET TO HEAR HIS UNDER WATER VOICE AS MY TWO GIRLS DID! THEY STILL REMEMBER IT AND THEY ARE 28 AND 30 YEARS OLD! THE CHILDREN IN HEAVEN JUST RECEIVED A MOST SPECIAL ANGEL AS HE WILL SPEAK TO THEM UNDER WATER AND I KNOW HE WILL ENTERTAIN AND LOVE THEM! BLESSING TO YOU ALL ....CHRISSY

Dear Mrs. MacCollum, Maurie, Rob, Sharon and Russ, and all the Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren:

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. MacCollum. I am praying for you as you process your loss of a true light and joy from your lives. Mr. MacCollum was a great man to know, full of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control, the fruits of the Spirit of God. I have fond memories of the times with you both, Mrs. MacCollum, and I honor the 57 years of marriage, the faithful raising up of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that you did with your husband. I have full confidence that because of his dependence on Christ Jesus, Mr. MacCollum now lives - well and full of joy in the presence of his Savior.

Paul aptly writes, under a slightly different context, to the Philippians in chapter 4:

"Rejoice, I say again rejoice! The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in all things, through prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."

I have found this verse to be helpful to me, and pray God will comfort you now and forever, until you meet Mr. MacCollum again in glory.

With Love, and Sympathy for Your Loss,

Daniel Martin

I wrote in my journal before Pop Pop died to kind of process that he was dying. I liked the memories it brought up, so I thought maybe you'd like to hear it too. He probably would have liked to have gotten it in a letter, but I didn't send it to him. I guess I thought maybe he wouldn't have understood it at that point. I don't know.

Dear Pop Pop, last night we saw a Corvair and your voice saying that word came into my head. I don't even remember the story but I remember you had a story with one and the way you say it, fast: "Corvairrr." Now you're laying in a hospital bed dying and I think I must have wanted Zane to hear your stories about your grandfather and the telegraph lines, and your stepfather chasing horses across France on his Indian motorcycle in WWI. I'll miss slapping mosquitoes while the steak cooks on the back patio and hearing you say, wide eyed, knees slightly bent and hands open, palms outward, "Oh boy, it's Nana's lasagna!" because you helped keep it going. Helped keep the happiness alive.
And when you blew bubbles or gurgled in your throat or whatever you did. And when you gave us Fast Orange to clean pine sap off our hands after we climbed your trees. When you stood in the street with a cone so we could scooter up Mr. Thomasello's driveway. When you helped us get our bikes ready for rides in the neighborhood. "Hey, that's neat." How did you keep your happiness alive? You always were happy. "God bless you in your travels." I'm gonna miss you, Pop Pop. I think there will be a lot of people who will miss you. Thanks for raising my Mom with a sense of her own self worth. For teaching her to change a tire. For letting us make swords with your workshop tools. I get the feeling if you were a little lighter on your feet you would have joined us in the sword fights more.
I think you were a faithful servant. I want to see you again. You stayed so active till you got sick. Suddenly a lot less active, rather than gradual. No more cross-town delivery records for NAPA. No more Lead Foot Bob carrying two batteries into the store, the oldest driver in their company. You'll be missed. Your life has been one of quiet diligence. It wouldn't "wow" a dinner party but it is a great example of a life well lived, deep strong roots and good yields of fruit.
God's blessing; you're about to travel. We'll miss you.
