Roy was my brother in-law, he welcomed me into the family with a big hug,his trademark half smile/smirk and the words "you don't know what you're in for".
God bless Roy who always put family first and foremost. He shared his last days surrounded by them and their love and gave them each his in return. He lived his life compassionately, determined and with no sense of false pride. Everything he did he did wholeheartedly: caring for those he loved, his profession, maintaining his home, gardening, cooking, remodeling, they were all acts of passion. Roy's gifts to us all were his wonderful sense of humor and his kind and generous spirit.
The memory of a "Roy hug" is an embrace I'll cherish. Roy your "To Do" list is done...rest peacefully.

Roy filled a void in my life as my father had passed away over 20 years ago. He was a remnant of the "Greatest Generation", carrying the ball just a little further down the field. His caring for others was unmatched yet masked by his stoic and quiet personality. For me and our family there is a hole in the world that will be very hard to fill. We love him dearly and hope to see him again in our heavenly Fathers house.

So sad to hear this. Roy and I have crossed paths at NIH and he was always so helpful and kind. He always had a good outlook and a sweet gentle soul. I will forever be thankful that we crossed paths. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family and friends. He will be truly missed by so many. RIP my friend.

I worked with Roy at NIH and he was one of the most humorous and loving spirited persons that I know. I relied on him for his expert knowledge of our NBS application here at NIH so when he left NIH I was saddened and I truly missed him. I am extremely saddened that he has passed on and he will be missed. I will keep his family in my prayers and I send my deepest condolences.

My deepest sympathy to the Mill's family. A great man was lost on December 10. Roy was my coworker, mentor and best of all, my friend who was always there for me (especially when I was in the ICU for months in 2010 - he would call me and cheer me up and make me want to fight and live (when at some points, it was really hard to want to/believe it was going to be an option for me) - I am absolutely heartbroken (as I know everyone is) at his passing!! You are all in my thoughts and prayers!
