On Thursday, June 26, 2014 of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved mother of Shane (Alisa) Upchurch, Heather (Chris) Upchurch; sister of Nancy (Mike) Clementson and Gail (John) McGaha. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring MD (Valet Parking) on Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Church of the Resurrection, 3315 Greencastle Road, Burtonsville, MD on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 11 a.m. Interment Union Cemetery, Burtonsville, MD. Dear Shane, Heather and family, I knew Shirly through teaching at Calverton Elementary School for many years. She was so very dedicated to teaching her students and helping others. I never met a harder working teacher. She was an inspiration to me and others who knew her. Shirley will be missed by those who knew and loved her. Her spirit and soul will live on forever.
