Today I am reflecting on the last time I saw Stuart. My son and I came from Richmond and Virginia Beach to the Tiger Woods tournament at Congressional Country Club. I ran into Stuart and we had a beer together. It is good to remember happy times.

Of course I'm late, just like all my bar shifts. I'm still in the business all these years later. So blessed to have his advice and boundless patience. Just telling a new bartender a story about Stu last week! I remember his 50th birthday party at Quigley's and Baseball Bill's toast. So many wonderful memories and lifetime friends. Thank you Stu for making that all possible. Cheer

The world is a little bit duller a place with Stu gone.
He was a man of extraordinary intelligence and energy and beneath his quick and often barbed wit he had the biggest heart in DC.
Ave atque vale, old friend.

In the years since I graduated from American and left Quigley's, I have thought of Stuart often. He showed me considerable kindness when I worked for him and provided me with experiences that boosted my confidence and propelled me to where I am today. He was a tremendous mentor, although at the time I had no idea that the lessons he was imparting would last me a lifetime. My deepest condolences to Cherie and all his family and friends. xoxo

He was a good boss and a good man. He tolerated our antics at Quigley's with much more patience than I could have mustered...he knew how to be tough, but more often than not he had a soft spot for a bunch of foolish kids just leaving the bubble of college--and watched out for them more than they knew. RIP, Stuart.

Stu made me laugh everytime I saw him. Many years ago on a Dubliner golf trip to Ireland Stu needed to hedge his bets.
Since I had one of the highest handicaps of the group, Stu assumed he would easily beat my score. I played my best round of golf the next day and beat Stu by one shot. Stu couldn't believe he had lost his money to a hacker. I enjoyed reminding Stu of this embarrassing loss for the next 15 years at the Dubliner Charity Golf tournament. RIP my friend.
