On Thursday, April 9, 2015, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved wife of Bruce W. Strand; mother of John Scholtz; sister of Mark Luft. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Friday, April 17, 2015, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral Service at Christ Congregational Church United Church of Christ, 9525 Colesville Road, Silver Spring, MD on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 2 p.m. Interment private. Terry was one of my favorite teachers at Green Acres. Her heart was always in the right place and she truly cared for all children as if they were own. She will be dearly missed. My sincerest condolences to the Terry's family. God Bless

Terry and I were the "new" teachers at GAS and I remember her extreme kindness and her palpable joy when teaching. What a gift she was to the world.

Making soup for a community of homeless people was a high point for me. Somehow Terry wrangled up those curious and active 4th graders and before we knew it, an enormous pot of delicious soup was ready to put on the stove. Truly one of the more positively impacting teachers at Green Acres. I have many fond memories of being a student in her class. Her legacy as a teacher and good person will always be in the hearts of her many students.

Terry was the quilt of Green Acres School: her legacy canvased the generations, and her dedication formed the stitches that bound both students and faculty. I am deeply saddened by this loss. Know that despite leaving Green Acres after 5th grade in 1995, Terry's is a teacher I could never forget.
