PASKIEWICZ, Joseph
Joseph Paskiewicz, 83, of Kensington, beloved husband of the late Claire, passed away suddenly on Thursday, (November 24, 2011). He was born January 22, 1928 to the late Michael and Aniela Paszkiewicz of Kensington. He attended Berlin High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon his discharge, he was employed by McKeon Brothers General Contractors for over 20 years. He then became Deputy Director of Public Works for the Town of Berlin and served in his position with honesty and integrity. He was instrumental instituting the recycling program for the town. He also served as the town sanitarian until his retirement. Joe was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus council #3675 and St. Paul Church Kensington. Joe is survived by his three daughters and sons in law, Linda and Scott Johnson of Torrington, Judith and Edward Lynch of Newington, and Debra and Jeffrey Capen of Georgia; five grandchildren and their spouses, Laura and Richard Vittum, Erin and William Jordan, Kate and Kevin Pray, Jeffrey and Jennifer Capen and Lauren Capen; the lights of his life his five great grandchildren Ricky, Michaela, Kayley, Lindsey and Madeline; his brothers in law and spouses Walter and Lee Poplaski and Robert and Diane Poplawski; his sister in law Alma Paskiewicz; twelve nephews and nieces. Joe was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Claire, his son Michael, his grandson Shawn Lynch, his brothers John, Walter, Peter and Steven and his sister Mary Krause.
Friends and family are invited to visit on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 from 4-7 p.m. at the Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Kensington. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 9 a.m. At 10 a.m., a Mass of Christian burial will be held at Saint Pauls Church Alling Street, Kensington. Burial with Military Honors at Saint Mary's Cemetery, New Britain will follow. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
