David Jones Obituary

DAVID ROGER JONES, beloved son and brother, born on January 6, 1982 in Houston, Texas died on November 12, 2003, following a traffic accident suffered on his way to class at Pepperdine University, in Malibu, California. The Lord had transformed Davy's life and made him a beacon to others. He loved Jesus Christ, His fiancée, Jaimi Garcia, of Agoura, California, his family , friends and music. He was an apt student and accomplished musician, and he entertained us with a whimsical sense of humor. He precedes in death his parents, Sherwood O. and Judge Edith H. Jones of Houston, his brother, Andrew Jones, his fiancée Jaimi, his grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Roger Hollan of San Antonio, Texas, and aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service will be held in Houston at Bethel Independent Presbyterian Church, 825 Bering Drive, at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2003 with Dr. Michael D. Boys officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Pepperdine University.

Edith,

I just learned today the sorrowful news about sweet Davey. My heart is heavy with grief and sadness for you and Woody and Andy. I will always remember him as the sweet, somewhat shy and witty boy and young man that I knew. I know your faith will sustain you through this period of grief, but I also know wounds do not heal overnight. Please call on me and let me be a shoulder for you.

With deepest regrets,

Diana and Charles

Dear Judge Jones: I remember with fondness how your eyes lit up when you spoke once of visiting your son David at Pepperdine. I am so saddened to learn of your loss. Please accept my deepest thoughts of you and your family at this time.

Working for Kenneth Engerrand at Brown Sims PC for many years, I have come to know and appreciate the wonderful work of Judge Jones on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. As a greatful admirer, I deeply regret this loss--yet rejoice in our hope that, "to be absent from this body is to be present with the LORD."
