Robert W. Forgey, 67, of Huntsville died Wednesday. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He grew up in Mississippi and obtained a degree in mechanical engineering from Mississippi State University. He retired as chief of the prototype engineering lab of the Army Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal. He also retired as a Lt. Col. from the 20th Special Forces Group of the Alabama National Guard. Bob was an active member of First United Methodist Church and the faith Sunday school class. He had a strong interest in missions. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Edna Forgey, and a son, Robert W. Forgey Jr. Survivors include his wife, Anne W. Forgey; daughters, Dawn A. Lozano and her husband, Roger, of Snellville, Ga., Erynn M. Showers and her husband, David, and Alyson I. Forgey, all of Huntsville; sons, Carter A. Forgey and wife, Michelle, of Huntsville, and Christopher S. Forgey of Houston; honorary daughters, Iryna Haddock and her husband, Jeremy, of Madison, Natasha Yanislauskaia and Katya Yerofeeya of Belarus; grandchildren, Britney Lozano, Bradley Lozano, Brandon Showers and Kaisey Showers; brothers, Ben Forgey and his wife, Jean, William Forgey and his wife, Lynn, of Brandon, Miss.; and several nieces, nephews and many friends. Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. today in the Wesley Worship Center at First United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary with the Rev. Don Cross, the Rev. Coy Hallmark and the Rev. Mike Edmundson officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the Forgey family requests that donation be made to the Bob Forgey Jr. Scholarship Fund or The UMCOR South Asia Emergency Fund at First United Methodist Church.
