Richard Lewis Kolm

April 13, 1935 - Feb. 28, 2009 Resident of Castro Valley Died peacefully in his home in Castro Valley. His body succumbed to bile duct cancer but his spirit lives on in the hearts of the many family and friends who loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Jacqueline Mabry Kolm, his children, Brian Kolm and Peggy Kolm and husband Gene Huh, his brother and wife David and Marian Kolm, his sister and husband Eileen and Ben Schrempp and their families. He was born in Eureka, CA to Leland Bernitt and Kathleen (Lewis) Kolm, both deceased. He grew up in San Francisco. He graduated from UC Berkeley with a BS in Civil Engineering and enjoyed a 32 year career with EBMUD and retired as Asst. Chief Engineer in Charge of Planning. Besides his family, he loved trains, travel and photography. He was an active model rail-roader, serving as a secretary of the Pacific Coast Region of NMRA. As an avid photographer, he created many beautiful photos of his trips, local scenes, people and trains. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
