i have found him on this childhood game i play called Graal. I have spent a portion of my life playing on this game from about I was 10 to now as an adult. the servers are still up and his memorial has been there for thousands of people over the years to see. i owe it to him for helping build a game that i've been playing for nearly half of my lifetime. the countless hours and memories i made from this game is thanks to him.

Shawn's game (Jetz fusion) mesmerized me as a kid back in 2003-2004. Today I find that, that game was created by him. A game I have been searching for the past 12 years or more since we gave away our pentium 4 pc. Thank you for the great game, always a fond memory from my childhood

Shawn inspired me to become a game developer. That was when I was 17 in 2006. I'm now almost 33 and I just felt a pang of sad nostalgia when I opened Godot Engine today to work on a new game... I'll always remember his impact on my life.

Shawn was a kind, creative and innovative kid. The games he made were a whole different level of quality for the era, and I often I wonder what great things he'd be making now. Even fourteen years on, Shawn is still in the memory of all the people around the world that he touched and inspired. We miss him dearly.

I began using the Game Maker software approximately the same time as Shawn's death, and I still vividly recall the mourning and bewilderment that consumed the entire community in those dark days. I had never met let alone interacted with Shawn in my life, yet somehow this memory sticks with me 12 years later. Shawn was an icon with precocious talent and unlimited potential, and when abruptly he was taken from this world I saw the pain it left on so many of his friends and I too began to grieve. And I still do, 12 years later. May Shawn rest in peace. Sorry that I don't have anything more meaningful to say, but I wanted to express that there are still many of us out there who will never forget Shawn.

I never met Shawn, and I don't think I knew about his games before he passed away. However, his amazing games got me to start making games and that drive still inspires me today. I still think about him fairly frequently and wonder what amazing things he could have accomplished over these past 12 years. I honestly think he could have become a household name among those in the gaming community. God has a reason for everything. This isn't a goodbye but rather an I'll see you later.

I didn't know him well at all; I'm not even sure if I ever spoke with him. I have certainly heard of him though. His creations are all over the internet, and almost everybody on the GMC and many people in the freeware-gaming world knew who "Shawn64" was.
He was one of the few people that, for me at least, came across as more than "just another voice on the Web"; he was actually a real person. His personality shone through the simple text by which Web-users are forced to communicate.
I wish I'd known him better. If I who barely knew him feel this touched by him, I feel all the more grief for his family and close friends. My thoughts are with you. RIP Shawn.

Here is something that I wrote and had read at Shawns service. Hopefully this will give you all some insight on the Shawn that I love and miss.
Shawny - My son - The greatest son any mother could ever wish for.
The one that on the day he was born I knew that I was blessed with the most beautiful and precious child. The one that as a small child would wrap his arms around my leg and hold on to me. The one that took a marker and made a picture on his wall. It was big and beautiful but mom had somehow wished he had done this on paper. The one that was the little boy who put on his brand new high top tennis shoes, went in his little tykes playhouse with moms Christmas tree balls and smashed them all with his new shoes. And smiled when I found him and said he was just trying out his new shoes. The one that I played catch with the football, shot basketball hoops with and went on bike rides through the park with. The one that loved and played with his dog Flash. Fed his dog all of the junk food that he ate and made his dog a house out of Kenex building blocks. The one that always had a controller, computer mouse or pencil drawing some character, making a game or design. The one that always sang songs with me. We sang loud and probably out of tune, but neither of us cared. The one that always changed my screen saver to say something funny-knowing I did not know how to change it back. The one that I always kissed good night and said I love you. The young man I am so proud of..
Love....Treasure and will miss..
Shawny I will love you always..Mom

I have read the numerous emails that have been sent about Shawn. I always knew I had the greatest and most amazing son, however, I had no idea how many other people knew this too. It brings me comfort to know that not only I knew how talented he was, but that so many people here and around the world knew this too. I struggle daily with this tragic loss of my son. It came as such a shock and I still cannot believe this has happened. I have no answers for anyone but I do know that no mother could have loved her son anymore or been any prouder of her son. Thank you all for your love, support and kind words.

Shawn was a joy and inspiration to many students. As a member of my class he enjoyed having a ready team to test with new ideas and games. His art was filled with dimension and scope and immense growth potential. One can't help but feel that a bright star has fallen from the sky and left a dark place in its place. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends as each person struggles by this tragic loss of life. May God comfort each of you.
