Bill Severin Obituary

Bill Severin, 59, of Port Townsend, Wash., died on Jan. 8, 2011. He was born on Dec. 22, 1951 in Ellensburg, Wash., to George Bernard and Frances (Graaff) Severin. Bill was raised in Ellensburg, he moved to Seattle WA. in his 20s, where he was a chef for several fine restaurants in the area. Bill later moved to Oregon and was chef at the resort in Sunriver before finally settling in Port Townsend, more than 20 years ago. Bill was the chef for the Belmont, in the historic town center. The menus he created offered elegant entrees, and he took great pride in his presentation and distinctive flavors. During that time he made many friends, young and old. A tribute was given there to honor Bill and his friends, and it was clear that he made many friends, it was amazing to see how many young people he had touched and mentored during his life in Port Townsend. He will be remembered and missed by many and especially by his family.

According to his family, Bill's passions were sports, sports and more sports. He also enjoyed golfing, cooking, and being with his family and friends.

Survivors include; brothers Gary Severin (Edie), Pat Severin (Marsha) and David Severin (Cynthia), his Cuban foster brother Pedro Perez; and sisters Jane Severin, Sally Urie (Dan), Donna Laha (John), Joanne Perry (John), Colleen Brackett (Dave), and Betty Severin.

A tribute for Bill is set for February 5th, 2011 at the Raw Space, 117 E 4th, Ellensburg, WA, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The family invites all that would like to come by in tribute to Bill.

As children growing up together, Bill and I climbed quite a few trees together, and we did our share of "helping" the Nuns give us our education. Another cousin and I went to Port Townsend, a few years ago. We visited with him and ate wonderfully at his restaurant.
Till another time we meet, I will miss Him. Kth Graaff

Bill was the comic relief for those of us who attended Lourdes Academy. How we will all miss him! Blessings to all of the Severins, the most spiritual, artistic group I know.
