Lila Andress Obituary

Lila Laverna Andress, 106, passed away quietly March 29, 2011 at Kittitas Valley Health and Rehab Center, just five days before her 107th birthday. Lila was born in Troy, Idaho on April 3, 1904, (Easter Sunday). to Joseph and Ida (Arnot) Corrin, the youngest of six children. When she started school in East Helena, Montana, she and her sister Fae, rode a horse to school. Lila met Fred Andress in Prosser and they married in Yakima on August 4, 1923. They settled in Grandview where Gilbert and Marjorie were born. In 1934 they moved to Kittitas where Fred worked for Balcom and Moe. She belonged to several clubs including Bridge Club and Queens of Spades garden club of which she was a life member and it's first president. In 1955, the family, now including daughter Judy, moved to the Moe Home Place, where Fred was foreman. She joined the 4-K club and was Superintendent of the Horticulture Dept., at the county Fair for several years.
After Fred passed away in 1973, she moved to Ellensburg where she belonged to the Silver Circle and RSVP. She was honored at the Old Timers Banquet for her long years of community service. Her hobbies included: hunting, fishing, traveling, knitting, crocheting, oil painting, quilting, china painting, ceramics and flower gardening.
She is lovingly survived by her children; Gilbert (Lois) Andress of Issaquah, Marjorie (Don) Huss, and Judy (Bill) Breeden all of Ellensburg. Her nine grandchildren: Sharon Millett (Dean Zellmer), Mike (Katie) Huss, Sandy (Gene) Ketzenberg, David (Cheryl) Andress, Christopher (Jennifer) Andress, Steve (Karen) Andress, Brian (Peggy) Andress, Rachel (John) Norgard, and Ryan (Kari) Breeden. Seventeen great grandchildren, fifteen great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her five siblings and a grandson Bradley Ketzenberg. Viewing will be Sunday, April 3, 2011, 11:00 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Affordable Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. at High Valley Cemetery. A Celebration of her Life service, will following at 2:00 p.m. at Chestnut Street Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Fund, especially for Breast Cancer Research. Affordable Funeral Care has been entrusted with arrangements.

So sorry to hear about your Mom's passing. For those who don't know me , my Mom Phyllis Gage was Lila's roommate at KVHR and Judy and I go way back to Wranglerettes. Even though she lived a long life I know you will miss her very much and cherish her sweet memory. Sincerely Ruth Ann Gage Olney and from Dad (Cliff Gage) too
