Kenneth Paul Obituary

KENNETH S.(KENNY) PAUL was born in Ellensburg, WA., Feb. 3, 1976. He passed away after a sudden illness in Ogden, UT., on May 7, 2011.

He is survived by his wife, Shauna Paul and his daughter, Payton Paul of Estancia, NM.; parents Steve and Joyce Paul of Squaw Gap, ND., brother John Paul and his wife Tami of Plevna, KS., and their children Randal, Bonnie, Virginia and Gracie, sister Dianna Paul Bland and her husband Kirk Bland of Cle Elem, WA., and their son Stephen; brother Evan and wife Amy of Squaw Gap, ND. His survivors also include his father-in-law, Steve Harrington of Estancia, NM.; his wife's brother Alan Harrington and wife Wendy of Los Lunas, NM and their children Orey Feerer, and Lainey and Aidan Harrington.

Kenny spent the last week of his life at the National Cutting Horse Association's Western National Championship in Ogden, UT., where he competed and finished third in the Open class, realizing a dream of making it to the top 10 in that competition.

Kenny was a cowboy's cowboy, a talented horseman, a ranch manager, a business partner and most importantly, a man of God. Kenny began his horseback career at a very early age, even before he could walk, accompanying his father and brother on their cowboying adventures in central Washington.

After growing up and graduating from Kittitas High School in 1994, he moved to the Estancia Valley to work for his brother on a ranch. In 1996, he met Shauna Harrington and they were married on February 28, 1998. On August 1, 2000 they welcomed Payton Paul, their baby girl. In 2000, Kenny began working as ranch manager for CR Land and Cattle, but it was more than a job. It was his way of life.

Kenny began training horses in 2003 while he continued to manage the daily activities of CR Land and Cattle. As his horse training grew and became a passion, his family spent many a cold, windy day working cutting horses. Kenny dreamed of becoming a cowman. In late 2009, Kenny and Shauna realized that dream by becoming part owners of KC Cattle Company along with Cyle Sharp, Kenny's longtime employer and friend.

Kenny and his quick, dry sense of humor will be sorely missed by the men he sweated with. We are so proud that Kenny is checking 10,000 cattle on 10,000 hills. Funeral services will be held at Lonnie Wright's Rocking K Arena, 5 miles north of Moriarty, NM., Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers you may make contributions to the Kenny Paul Memorial Fund at any Wells Fargo Bank.

Arrangements entrusted to: Harris-Hanlon Mortuary, Moriarity, NM., (505)832-6130.
