William Harrell Obituary

William C. Harrell, 98, of Buffalo Township, passed away at home Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Dec. 1, 1924, in Arnold, to the late Daniel and Loretto (George) Harrell. William lived the past 54 years in Buffalo Township and prior to that, Arnold. He was a senior research associate for PPG Research in Harmarville, retiring in 1993. William was a World War II veteran of the Army, serving in Europe, and received the Purple Heart. He graduated from Arnold High School in 1943 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1950. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Janet C. (Steele) Harrell; his sons, Patrick T. (Patricia) Harrell, of Parker, Christopher J. (Lisa) Harrell, of Annville, Jason D. Harrell, of Avalon, Ian M. (Bhawani) Harrell, of Buffalo Township, and Misha A. (Leanne) Harrell, of Youngwood; grandchildren, Bernadette (Matthew) Egan, Michelle (Jacob) Adamonis, Stephanie (Mark) Ollis, Miles, Maia, Liam, Nirvan and Himani Harrell; and four great-grandchildren, Jon, Maddie and Katie Egan and Olivia Adamonis. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel and John Harrell; and a sister, Rita Popish. A celebration of William's life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by DUSTER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 347 E. 10th Ave., Tarentum, 724-224-1526. The family suggests contributions to an animal shelter of one's choice or Saxonburg Library.
