Joyce Gutmann Obituary
She was born April 8, 1937, in Springfield, the daughter of John and Ruth Mesojednik. She married Charles A. "Chuck" Gutmann Sr. on Jan. 23, 1955, in Springfield, and he preceded her in death Nov. 1, 2010.
She is survived by four children, Tony Gutmann, Chuck Gutmann Jr. (wife, Sandra), Kent Gutmann (wife, Karen) and Vicki Schoonover (husband, Kevin), all of Ashland; five grandchildren, Chuckie Gutmann III (wife, Clarissa) of Irvine, Calif., and Chad Taapken, Crystal Taapken, Katelyn Gutmann and D.J. Schoonover, all of Ashland; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mark Mesojednik (wife, Suzi) of Ashland and Steve Mesojednik of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Chris Gutmann; and a brother, Mike Mesojednik (surviving wife, Marge of Ashland).
Mrs. Gutmann and her husband owned and operated Chuck & Joyce's Automotive in Ashland for 14 years. She later served as an assistant manager for Jimmy's Inc. of Ashland. She enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors.
Cremation rites will be accorded. Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Animal Protective League, 1001 Taintor Road, Springfield, IL 62702 or Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice, 331 S. Main St., Virginia, IL 62691. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home of Ashland is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be left online at www.buchanancody.com.
