Marie Fissel Obituary

Marie E. Fissel, 95, formerly of Littlestown, died on Tuesday morning, February 7, 2006, at Shepherd's Choice of Gettysburg. She was the wife of William B. Fissel, who died July 6, 1995. Born April 28, 1910, in Adams County, she was the daughter of the late Jones and Emma (Palmer) Ohler. Mrs. Fissel was a homemaker and a lifelong farmer, along with her husband. She was a lifelong member of St. James United Church of Christ in Littlestown, where she had been active for many years in Sunday School, the Ladies Aid, and singing in the choir. She is survived by one daughter, Nadine E. Sentz of Littlestown; one son, Fred W. Fissel of Littlestown; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Myrna Myers; a sister, Florence Legore; two half brothers, Ernest and Walter Ohler; and a half sister, Ruth Stambaugh. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Little's Funeral Home, 34 Maple Ave., Littlestown, with Pastor Scott Aument and her grandsonin-law, the Rev. Dan Mikesell of Wesleyan Church of the Cross in Carlisle, officiating. A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. James UCC Cemetery, Littlestown. Memorial contributions may be made to St. James UCC, 1200 Harney Road, Littlestown, PA 17340.
