Morris Lee Roberson

Morris Lee Roberson of Baton Rouge, LA died peacefully on July 6, 2022, at the age of 95. Morris was born to Julius and Rena Roberson in Artesia, New Mexico. He was the last surviving of four siblings born to them, Judith, Sammy, and Julius. He spent his formative years in the Carlsbad, New Mexico area. After graduating from Carlsbad High School, he served in the U.S. Navy before going to New Mexico A&M University (New Mexico State University) where he received degrees in Dairy Farming and Chemical Engineering. He received a Master's degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He had a long career as a chemical engineer, working for Phillips 66, Reynolds Aluminum, Harvey Aluminum, and Kaiser Aluminum. He was Technical Manager at the ALPART alumina plant in Spur Tree, Jamaica. He married Mary Margaret Taylor in 1949, and together they had five children, Susan Louise (Wally J. Moon), Carol Lee (Richard Mills), Janet Ann (George Stratton), James Earl (Nobue Suzuki), and John Hugh (Kim Welch). He is survived by them as well as his grandchildren, Jessica, Julia, Joel, Brad, Cameron, Taylor, Will and James, and his great-grandchildren, Ben and Elizabeth. He and Margaret enjoyed traveling and visited many places, including Europe, Russia, many Central American, South American, and Caribbean countries, China, Mongolia, and Japan. His life was marked by career achievements and a loving family.
