Nancy's Obituary

West Boothbay Harbor – Nancy M. Smith, 75 died Wednesday December 28, 2011 at home with her daughters, grandchildren, and friends at her bedside in West Boothbay Harbor following a long battle against lung cancer. She was born in Bath on September 14, 1936 a daughter of Justus H. and Carolyn Main Miller and attended Bath Schools. She is predeceased by her husband, Graydon M. Smith who died February 13, 2011; a sister, Carolyn Granducci, who died Sept. 9, 2002; and a son in law, Steve Rowe who died on Aug 7, 2011. She is survived by four daughters, Jennifer Rice and her husband Andrew of Woolwich, Carolyn Brigham and her husband Raymond of Dade City, FL, Traci Plummer and her husband Carroll of Georgetown, and Leslie Rowe of Chester, NH; a step daughter, Karen Baty of Newport, RI; a sister, Magella Snell of Bath; 7 grandchildren, Ashley Lester of Georgetown, Prudence White of Georgetown, Lieutenant Junior Grade Christopher Rowe, USCG, of New York, NY, Private First Class Tyler Rowe, USMC, of Chester, NH, Joshua Rowe of Chester, NH, Matthew Rice of Woolwich, and Jonathan Rice of Georgetown; 2 step-grandchildren, Shawn McDonald of Rhode Island and A.J. McDonald of Florida; 9 great grandchildren, Joe and Anora Rice of Phippsburg, Madeline Rice of Georgetown, Ethan and Caleb Rice of Woolwich, Evelyn and Fritz White of Georgetown, and Gavin and Cody McDonald of Rhode Island; and several nieces and nephews. Private family services will be held at a later date at Riverside Cemetery, Woolwich. Nancy participated in the 2011 Breathe Deep Boston LUNGevity walk on November 5, 2011 in Boston. Donations in her memory may be made to the LUNGevity Foundation, 435 North LaSalle St., Suite 310, Chicago. IL 60654. Arrangements are entrusted to David E.
