CHARLESTON, IL – Mary JaneBeavers, age 86 of Charleston, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at SarahBush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon. Visitationfor family and friends will be held Wednesday (February 15) from 11:00 a.m.until 1:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Services honoring and celebrating her lifewill begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday immediately following visitation withReverend Bill Boaz officiating. Intermentwill follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Mattoon. It is requested that in lieu of flowersmemorial gifts in her honor be made to the March of Dimes or to the AmericanHeart Association. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at thevisitation or service, or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive,Charleston, IL 61920.
Mary Jane was born on December26, 1925 in Charleston a daughter of the late Oscar "Rabbit" and Daisy Mae(Davis) Gordon. She was married toRobert "Max" Beavers and they had two sons. Max preceded her in death on January 17, 1971. She issurvived by a loving and devoted son Gary Beavers and his wife Bonnie ofMattoon; two nephews and their families, Dale Kaempflein of St. Peters,Missouri and Richard Kaempflein of Janesville, Wisconsin; and very dear andspecial friends Jeff and Marla Shoot and Darrell and Bev Newcomb. In addition to her parents and her husband,Mary Jane was preceded in death by a son, Mike Beavers; a brother, Jack D.Gordon; and a sister, Anna Mae Kaempflein.
Mary Jane was a graduate ofCharleston High School and was formerly employed for many years by the Ne-CoAsphalt Company in Charleston. Hermemberships included Women of the Moose, Charleston Chapter #1175 and Women ofthe Elks, Charleston Lodge #623. MaryJane had previously been in charge of the local March of Dimes Chapter, anorganization she strongly supported. Shewas also a charter member of the Weekend Warriors who met at Mike and Stan's onSaturday mornings.
She was affectionately knownas "MJ" to her family and many friends. MJ loved to travel – she enjoyed going to Florida to visit specialfriends and the occasional trip to a casino with the girls was usually on heragenda. She was always on the go yet atthe same time kept life simple. MJ washappiest when she was sharing time with her family, sitting on her front porchor sharing a cocktail with her many friends. She was a loving and devoted mother to Garyand a faithful friend to many. She willbe fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
