Not sure what to say?

It's been 9 years and still feels like yesterday. I was talking about you to a friend because I was in Walmart buying jellybeans for my youngest boy and just started crying and couldn't stop. He asked me "momma what's wrong?" I said "well baby one of the greatest men I ever had the blessing to have had in my life passed away and went to live with Jesus 9 years ago today. You were only 3 months old and we hadn't been able to bring you home to meet him yet. He would have loved you with...

RIP Peter Pan. We will miss you very much, but will always have you in our hearts and memories. I promise you that I will be there for your wife, daughter, and son, as often as I can and as long as they need me.We are family and nothing can change that. We will get together and share our memories of you. I love you

Patty, Sorry to hear of his passing. I fondly remember sitting next to him in grade school. We always had to sit in alphabetical order by last name. I called him Lowell back then. He always had a smile and laugh to share with you.

We will miss you Uncle Pete. We will hold the Love you gave us and memories in our hearts forever. I know you are watching over us and are at peace now. I am glad Brayden got to meet you. I just wish you would have had the chance to hold Daniel even just once. You and Patty have loved my kids and I and I am very proud to tell the boys this when they get older.

I am so sorry to hear of Pete's passing. I have very fond memories of him from my childhood. He will be missed dearly.

Rest In Peace Pete. You will be missed.

Lowell's Obituary

CHARLESTON, IL – Pete Simpson, age 53 of Charleston, went to his Heavenly Home on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at his residence.  Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday evening, April 4, 2012 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston.  There will be no Services following visitation and in accordance with his wishes and those of his family his earthly body will be cremated.  It is requested that memorial gifts in his honor be made to his wife Patty to assist with final expenses.  Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL 61920.

Pete was born on June 8, 1958 in Charleston a son of the late Oscar and Vera (Toops) Simpson.  He married Patty Hurst on June 9, 1989 in Kentucky.  He is survived by his loving wife Patty of Charleston; a son, Ryan Millage and a daughter, Chelsea Simpson, both of Charleston; a grandson, P.J. of Charleston; a brother, Leonard Carter and wife Martha of Casper, Wyoming; two sisters, Linda Shellabarger and husband Tony and Lana Beasley and husband, Brian, all of Charleston; along with several  nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by a daughter, Kaitlynn Simpson, a brother, Leland Simpson; and, a sister, Lee Ann Simpson.

This was Pete's favorite time of the year.  He loved being outdoors and with the onset of spring came the opportunity to go mushroom hunting, do some fishing and plant his vegetable garden – all things he truly enjoyed.  He was also fond of playing pool and was a member of the American Pool Players Association.  Cooking was also another hobby of Pete's and he was good at it – he did all the cooking for their family outings and for two years was the main cook for the Coles County Coon Hunters Association.  One of Pete's most memorable experiences was the hunting trip he took out west with good friend Dave Miller – he was in awe of the beauty and the magnificence of God's creation.

Pete liked to keep life simple – he loved his family dearly and Patty, his children and grandson meant the world to him.  When memories of Pete are recalled – they will be fond and comforting memories of special times shared.Click here to view Pete's memorial video.
