Dear Doty Family,
I'm sorry for your great loss. Ruth was a very special neighbor of mine for about 25 years. She was always friendly and gracious. She had one of the prettiest yards on Division Street; and seemed to enjoy working in it too.

May you be blessed with many good memories.

Sincerely,
Charlene M. Drury

Susie,

I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. Please remember that you have a lot of friends and family who love you dearly and that we are there for you if you need anything.

Love,

Ruth was born on March 7, 1917 in Silverwood, Indiana and was a daughter of the late O. Ray and Viola (Greeson) Tewell.  She married Ernest L. Doty on March 3, 1941 in DeQueen, Arkansas and they celebrated thirty-eight years of marriage prior to his death on November 15, 1979.  She is survived by her children, Brian Doty and wife Connie of Charleston and Sue Bennett of Champaign; three grandchildren, Andrea Doty and Brian Doty and his wife Sara, all of Charleston and Allison Doty of Champaign; and a sister, Lois Pierce of Champaign.  In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen Morphy.

Ruth was a member of the Loxa Presbyterian Church.  She volunteered many hours as a member of the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center Guild.  In 1967 she went to work for Inyart's Shoe Store located on the north side of the Charleston Square and remained there until her retirement.

Ruth was a lady who was always fashionably dressed and also wore a smile for her family, her friends and her customers.  Ruth's family was her pride and joy and blessed to be her priority in life.  They were devoted to her in return and lovingly cared for her during her declining health.  They have a treasure chest of memories to cherish and to draw comfort from.
