Mildred's Obituary

CHARLESTON, IL – MildredPoulter, age 96 of Charleston, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at herMason Point home in Sullivan, Illinois.  Visitationfor family and friends will be held Friday, July 27, 2012 from Noon until 1:00p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Services honoring and celebrating her life will begin at 1:00 p.m. onFriday at the Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mike Southards officiating.  Interment will follow in Mound Cemetery,Charleston.   It is requested thatmemorial gifts in her honor be made to the LifeSpan Center.  Gifts may be left on the memorial table atthe visitation or service, or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 ShawneeDrive, Charleston, IL 61920. 

Mildred was born on November13, 1915 in Cumberland County, Illinois, a daughter of the late Larkin andBeulah (Blagg) Cooper.  She married James(Herb) Poulter on September 30, 1933 in Paris, Illinois and they sharedsixty-six years of marriage prior to his death on January 16, 2000.  Mildred is survived by two nephews, JoeHanley and wife Pat of Sullivan and Hal Drake and wife Joan of Lancaster,Pennsylvania; and a niece, Linda Miller and husband Bill of St. Louis.  In addition to her parents and husband shewas preceded in death by an infant brother, Harold Cooper; two sisters, EdithHanley and Dorothy Weber; a niece, Joyce Titus; and two nephews, Terry Poulterand James Poulter. 

Mildred was employed with theBrown Shoe Company in Charleston for forty years and retired in 1972 as asupervisor.  She has been an activemember of First Christian Church in Charleston since 1959 and a fifty plus yearmember of the Order of Eastern Star and of the former Sopha C Chapter 102. 

Mildred's hobbies includedall types of craft work and she was especially fond of ceramics.  She was always willing to help others andthoroughly enjoyed assisting at the Charleston Senior Center as avolunteer.  In addition, she was also atalented and gifted seamstress making an assortment of her own clothing.  Mildred possessed a kind and caring heart andwas admired, respected and loved by her family and many friends.
