Don and Family,
I had to write to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. Losing a child has to be the worst pain there can be. My prayers are with you and your family at this terrible time.

CHARLESTON, IL – Justin Allen Howie, age 29 of Champaign and formerly of Charleston, passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. A time of sharing and remembering for family and friends will be held Friday, September 14, 2012 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL 61920.
Justin was born on August 25, 1983 at home in Ashmore, Illinois, the son of Don D. and Clara (Andreas) Howie, Jr. He is survived by his loving family which includes his parents of Charleston; two brothers, Matt Howie and wife Kelly and Chris Howie, all of Charleston; his former wife, Lindsey Rice of Mt. Zion, Illinois; his grandparents, Don and Cleo Howie of Charleston; aunts and uncles, Sam and Daniele Howie of Indiana, Tim and Maria Howie of Charleston, Paul and Mary Thompson of Nebraska, David Andreas of Georgia, Sandy and Wayne Sherwood of Nebraska, Ruth and Scott Wooton of Kentucky and Kaci and Bob Feldman of Nevada; numerous cousins and supportive special friends Brian and Lisa Arnold. Justin was preceded in death by his grandparents John and Viola Andreas and an aunt and uncle, Robin and Gary Cassiday.
Justin was employed with the family business, Quality Electrical Contractors. He had moved to Champaign only recently to attend Parkland College.
Justin lived life in a free spirited manner. He loved nature and the outdoors and was happiest when riding his bike, rollerblading, hiking and walking. He could be described as a naturalist and was health conscious, always paying close attention to nutrition – though there were times when he satisfied his sweet tooth by indulging in his love of dark chocolate. Justin also loved listening to music and following a visit to the west coast found California to be an area that was extremely enjoyable and to his liking. He was exceptionally intelligent when it came to electronics and modern technology and was never far away from his computer or his phone. He also had a thirst for knowledge and would surf the web for hours in researching new interests or for the latest and improved innovations.
Justin possessed a sense of humor which was contagious and was adept in making others laugh as well. He took great joy in sharing a smile. Justin had a caring and sensitive heart and loved his family dearly. Their abundant love for him was steadfast and his presence will be greatly missed. Justin will forever be remembered through the recollection of fond memories and through the many ways in which he touched and impacted the lives of those who knew and loved him.
