To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...

Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.

CHARLESTON, IL – Devin Lee Winans, age 22 of Charleston, left us unexpectedly on Sunday, April 7, 2013.  Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston.  Services honoring and celebrating his life will begin at 3:00 p.m. following visitation on Thursday at the funeral chapel with Reverend Darin Hansen officiating.  Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston.   It is requested that in lieu of flowers memorial gifts in his honor be made to Jon-Michael Winans who will establish an education fund for Devin's son, William.  Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or service, or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL 61920.

Devin was born on October 12, 1990 in Decatur, Illinois and was the son of Tim and Janelle (Willoughby) Winans.  He is survived by his son William Anthony Winans and William's mother, Sara Lacy of Windsor, Illinois; his mother, Janelle (Dave Adams) Winans of Mattoon; his father, Tim (Crystal) Winans of Taylorville, Illinois; a brother, Jon-Michael Winans and his wife Amber Hunter-Winans of Mattoon; three stepbrothers, Logan Harris and Steven Harris of Taylorville and Cooper Adams of Mattoon; a nephew, Mark Lee Winans  of Mattoon; his grandparents, Carol "Grammy" Willoughby of Charleston, Pat Weger of Assumption and Dale (Shirley) Winans of Decatur; great-grandmother, Marilyn Haslinger of Assumption; numerous loving aunts and uncles; and cousins, Dustin, Quinton, Derik, Corbin, Dakota, Joey and Kendra.  Devin was preceded in death by his grandfather, Michael "Mick" Willoughby and step-grandfather, Corkey Weger.

Devin was a graduate of Charleston High School Class of 2009 and attended Lake Land College.  He was a pizza chef for Monicals at both the Mattoon and Charleston locations and just recently accepted a position as a Tech Support Agent with Consolidated Communications.  He was baptized, along with his mother and brother into the family of God at Salisbury Church.

Devin enjoyed life's opportunities such as playing video games; hanging out with his brother Jon-Michael and best friends Tyler and Dustin; playing board games where his competitive nature was felt; teasing his cousins; or being a good "Uncle Wee Wee" to Mark.  He also enjoyed reading and fishing and big family get-togethers.  None of these took priority over his son, William.  Devin enjoyed nothing more than being a dad and just hanging out with his son.  Superman was a superhero that Devin and William both admired as he used his superpowers for the benefit of others.   Devin used his qualities of kindness, sincerity and respect to enhance the lives of his friends and family who dearly loved him and who will always consider him to be a superhero in their lives.
