Not sure what to say?

I worked for Jake at EIU forever! He was an amazing boss. He was decisive, funny and never let the job go to his head! I was blessed to have known him. He may be gone but will never be forgotten by those that loved him.

Jamie's Papa was by far an awesome grandfather! He raised a wonderful family that I am grateful to have in my life. I am certain he passed with the happiness of knowing that they would be strong together and think of him with overwhelming love each day. He will be dearly missed.

Much love to the whole family.

Debbie, My sympathy to you and your family in the loss of your father. God bless and keep you at this difficult time .

My sympathy to the family. Jake was a gentleman and all around good guy.

I met Jake when I joined the Charleston Rotary Club 25 years ago, and had the pleasure of working with him on many community service projects. You could always count on Jake for a quick smile, a kind word, and a helping hand. I will miss him.

So sorry to hear of Jake's passing. I have so many fond memories of him. He was such a good friend to my father (Marlyn)... I know dad will miss him dearly. I can remember from my very youngest days how Jake would welcome my brother and I into his office when we'd stop in to see our dad... as I grew up, Jake always took time to say hello and show an interest in me. He had a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh. I'm grateful for his presence in and influence on my family's life. You are in...

All the Eglseder families are so sorry to hear of the passing of Jamie's Grandfather & Debbie's Father. Jamie talked of him often with great respect & Doug also thought of him as a great guy. They will miss him. But the "Zane" name lives on in Dillion also.

Jake Zane, by David Miller's grave

I am Jake's 2nd cousin, in California. I had the pleasure of meeting him, Ken Zane, and Elvin Zane when I visited in Sept 2007. Ken, Jake and I visited the graves of their grandfather, Frank Zane; our great grandmother, Susan Morrison (Suzannah Miller Zane Morrison); our great great grandparents, David and Mary Miller; and other family graves too. It was a pleasure connecting with my Illinois cousins, and discussing family tree stuff (i.e. no, we're not descended from Isaac and Myeerah,...

I enjoyed "Mr. Zane's" kind, gentle nature and humor during the several years we were both employed at EIU in the 1970s. We all looked forward to his frequent, brief visits to our office as he was always a ray of sunshine and laughter! What a good man he was!! With deepest sympathies...
