CHARLESTON, IL – ThomasKenneth Noble, age 65 of Charleston, passed away at his home while in thecomforting presence of his loving wife Bessie and his sister-in-law Sharron, onSaturday, May 11, 2013. In accordancewith his wishes, his earthly body was cremated and a Memorial Celebrationhonoring his life will be held from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2013at the Charleston VFW located at 1821 20th Street. The Memorial Service, officiated by ReverendDr. Cyprus Hughes, will begin at 12:30 and Military Rites will be conducted bythe Honor Guard of the Charleston VFW Paul McVey Post 1592. Followingthe Service a time of fellowship will be enjoyed until 3:30 p.m. It is requested that thoughtful donations bemade to the Carle Hospital Guest House. Tom was born on December 28,1947 in Charleston and was a son of the late Richard V. and Kathryn B.(Shrader) Noble. He married Bessie RoseDavis on February 5, 2013. His survivorsinclude his loving and devoted wife Bessie of Charleston; a brother, TerrellNoble and wife Rosalee of Charleston; a sister, Donna Coffey and husband Don ofLongmont, Colorado; two nephews, Rick Noble and wife Connie of Farmer City,Illinois and Tim Noble of Charleston; three stepsons, Antwain Davis of Chicago,Justin Davis and Billy Davis, both of Charleston; two granddaughters, BreannaDavis of Chicago and Lily Lane of Mattoon; a goddaughter, Darla Lane andhusband Eric of Mattoon; his mother-in-law, Mary M. Davis of Country ClubHills, Illinois; an uncle, cousins, nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to his parents he was preceded indeath by grandparents, Frank and Alice Shrader and Clyde and Mary Noble.
Tom was a member of theCharleston High School Class of 1966 and played on the CHS Trojan footballteam. He was a United States NavyVeteran and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. He furthered his education at EasternIllinois University and in 1976 received his Bachelors Degree in Recreation. During the years he lived in California, Tomwas Coordinator of Transportation for Senior Opportunities and Service;Director of Sr. Transportation in Orange County and assisted with othertransportation groups. He also operatedan ambulance service. After returning toCharleston he was employed at ACE Hardware, County Market and was a driver forH & H and the EIU transportation services.
Tom attended worship at theSecond Missionary Baptist Church in Mattoon with Bessie. He was adventuresome by nature and enjoyedsuch activities such as sailing, skydiving and playing pool. He was also an avid Chicago Cubs baseballfan. Tom had a generous heart and acaring soul and was happiest when he was helping others. He enjoyed being with people and could alwaysbe counted on to lend a helping hand. Hewill be greatly missed but fondly and lovingly remembered by his family andfriends.
