Albert's Obituary

Albert H. Desjardins, 90, of Freeport, died on Friday, June 28, 2013. He was born in Van Buren, Maine on February 2, 1923 the son of Frank and Elise (Soucy) Desjardins. On January 3rd, 1949 he married Blanche Bouchard of Keegan, Maine. They lived most of their married life in Maine and settled in Freeport in 1969. Albert was a member of local 1996 Carpenters Union and worked as a general foreman for Consolidated Constructors and Builders until his retirement in 1985. Many of the commercial structures that Albert worked on through Consolidated stand prominent in the Portland skyline today. Albert was an avid gardener, and shared the bounty of his gardens with friends and family every year. He was an amateur microbrewer and also grew his own grapes to make wine. Albert was a communicant of St John the Baptist Catholic Church. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Blanche, who passed away on May 2, 1993. He leaves behind a daughter , Linda Bolton of Freeport, a grandson John-Michael Bolton, and a brother Wilfred Desjardins of Van Buren, Maine. A memorial service will be held at St John's Church on August 3rd at 11:00 AM. Memorial donations can be made to CHS Administrative Office, 190 Pleasant St, Brunswick, Maine 04011. Albert adopted several shelter animals in his lifetime and admired the work that Coastal Humane Society does to save and preserve the lives of animals in our community.
