My deepest sympathies to the family for your loss. I met Patty a few times when she visited Cindy and Charlie in Florida and thought she was such a lovely lady. I know that she will be greatly missed.

Patricia's Obituary

CHARLESTON, IL – Patricia Rose Morgan, age 82 of rural Charleston, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013 while at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until Noon on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston.  Services honoring and celebrating her life will begin at Noon on Thursday at the funeral chapel with Pastor Matt McGregor officiating.  Interment will follow in Union (Greasy Point) Cemetery located north of Rardin, Illinois.   It is requested that thoughtful donations in her honor be made to the Salvation Army.  Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or service, or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL 61920. 

Patty was born on June 24, 1931 in Charleston, a daughter of the late Thomas Harvey and Mary Helen (Swinford) Shoot.  She married Robert A. Morgan on June 5, 1949 in Charleston and they celebrated 51 years of marriage prior to his death on December 1, 2000.   She is survived by four loving and devoted children, Jeannie Raye Hungler and husband Ronald, Randall Lon Morgan and wife Carolyn and Bradley Robert Morgan and wife Brenda, all of rural Charleston and Cindy Kaye Shanks and husband Charlie of Newberry, FL; four grandchildren, Cherie (Jeff) Brandt of Bloomington, IL, Angela (Scott) Hackett, Jeramy Morgan and fiancé Leanna Guill and Kimberly (Ken) Ross, all of Charleston; 12 great-grandchildren, Hannah Morgan, Sidney Morgan, Wyatt Morgan, Gabrielle Lackey, Collin Ross, Kyle Ross, Lucas Ross, Elaina Sutula, Zack Brandt, Emma Brandt, Tyler Hackett and Meleah Hackett; and a brother, Doyle Dean Shoot and wife Carolyn of Mahomet, IL.  In addition to her parents and husband, Patty was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Harold "Bo" Shoot. 

Patty was a graduate of Charleston High School Class of 1949 and its' Homecoming Queen.  She attended the Rardin Presbyterian Church with her family and made Morgan Township her home as a homemaker and farmer's wife.  She and Bob enjoyed camping and many memorable family vacation trips were taken.  Patty was also an avid reader, a mushroom hunter, a lover of country music, enjoyed solving puzzles and taking nature walks, often admiring the beauty and the colors of the Spring flowers.  Family was of great importance to Patty, therefore family gatherings were always looked forward to and enjoyed.  She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who endeared herself not only to her children and grandchildren but to many others through her kind and gentle spirit.  It is these qualities which made it a joy to be in her presence and for which she will be fondly remembered.
