ASHMORE, IL – Charles E."Chuck" Finney, age 75 of Ashmore, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2013while at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. A gathering of family and friends to honor and celebrate Chuck's lifewill be hosted by his family from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 7,2013 at the Ashmore First Baptist Church in Ashmore, IL. The Memorial will begin at 11:00 a.m. led byRev. Tom Skinner. It is requested that inlieu of flowers thoughtful donations in his honor be made to Darla Finney toassist with final expenses. Gifts may bemailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920.
Chuck was born on July 6,1938 in Charleston and was a son of the late Roy A. and Mildred (Hughes) Finney. He married Darla Miller in Charleston onOctober 12, 1960 and they have celebrated 52 years of marriage and friendship. In addition to Darla he is survived by a son,Mike Finney and wife Jaimee of Ashmore and a daughter, Kim Coffey and husbandGreg of Hutton Township; 7 grandchildren, Amanda (Mike) Kline, Kaeleigh (Hans)Mueller, Devon Finney, Katee Finney, Tori (Kelly) Coartney, Colt Coffey andfiancé Ashley Pohlman, and Brandi Coffey; 5 great-grandchildren, BentleeFinney, Aspen Finney-Kline, Nick Coartney, Matt Coartney, and Kylah Coffey; 2brothers, Bob Finney of Georgia and Allen (Sharon) Finney of Charleston; asister-in-law, Sandy Finney of Charleston; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded indeath by a brother, Dale Finney and a sister-in-law, Jan Finney.
Chuck was a United StatesArmy Veteran, a 25 year employee of Ne-Co Asphalt Company, and a member ofTeamsters Local 26.
Chuck used to hunt and fishand enjoyed woodworking - often gifting his family with his beautifully craftedprojects. Chuck was a family man whocentered life round his family. Heenjoyed spending time with his extended family, especially visiting his brotherand family in Georgia, but it was Darla and their children, grandchildren andgreat-grandchildren for which he reserved a special place in his heart. He was always supportive of their activitiesand made it a priority to attend their special events – he was always theirbiggest fan. Chuck was a loving andsupportive husband, father and grandfather whose memory will always betreasured in the hearts of his family who dearly loved him.
