Gerald Gordon "Red" Reed, 90 of Panama, IL passed away Thursday, September 11,2014 at 9:25 P.M. at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Hillsboro.He was born on April 2, 1924 at Sorento the son of August W. and Lydia J.(Gordon) Reed. He and Agnes Charline Fietsam were married on October 18, 1952at Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents; Son Rodney Reed andseveral brothers and sisters.Mr. Reed was a retired gas serviceman for Illinois Power Company. He was alifetime and charter member of the Panama VFW Post 6628, a lifetime member ofthe St. Louis Metro POLKA Club, where he also served as Vice President for 10years and a member of Labor Local 397 of Granite City, IL. He was aveteran of the Army serving during World War II.Survivors include his wife, Charline of Panama, IL; Sons, Edgar "Scooter"(fiancé Mary Kern) Reed of Panama, IL and Michael (Michelle) Reed of Granite City,IL; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; Brother, Raymond Reed of Swansea,IL; Sisters, June German of Nokomis, IL and Dorothy "Dot" Daily of Sorento, IL; Manynieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. atthe Perfetti Funeral Home in Panama with the Rev. Father Charles Edwardsofficiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Panama with militaryhonors conducted by the Department of Defense. Visitation will be held from10:00-11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.Memorials are suggested to Celtic Hospice and Home Health, 205 Oakland Avenue,Carlinville, Illinois 62626 or Union Cemetery Maintenance Fund.Perfetti Funeral Home in Panama is in charge of arrangements.
