Pop was one of the finest men that Ive known it was a great pleasure to work for him for 14 years and to have known him alot longer than that. From helping us raise rabbits to chickens he was always there for us and helping us .Play ball in the back yard to going over and eating supper with Nan and Pop and dont forget Gill. He will be greatly missed by all the Turners You all are in our prayers Kevin and Kathy Turner

Melvin Wesley Page Jr., 94 of Taylorville passed away at 10:23 PM on Monday, September 22, 2014 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.He was born on July 20, 1920 at Springfield the son of Melvin W. and Lela E. (Ealey) Page Sr. He married Dorothy I. Perrine on May 8, 1938; she preceded him in death on April 27, 1957. He then married Mavis "Mickey" Martin on September 18, 1958; she also preceded him in death on April 3, 2001. He married Eileen H. (Wilcox) Daykin on August 18, 2002 at Community of Christ Church in Taylorville; she survives. He was also preceded in death by his parents; Son, Jack Girard; Sisters, Ruby Bull and Dorothy Schaefer; Granddaughter, Julie Riggs.Melvin owned and operated Pages Body Shop from June 1953 until his retirement in December 1993. He was a lifetime member of Mound Lodge #122 A.F. & A.M., lifetime member of VFW Post 4495 and Community of Christ Church. He was a Navy Seabee stationed in Guam during World War II.Survivors include: Wife, Eileen H. Page of Taylorville, IL; Daughters, Beverly A. Bergschneider of Taylorville, IL, Kay Carol (husband, Phillip) Champley of Taylorville, IL and Kay Ellen (husband, Robert) Schutte of Apple Valley, MN; Grandchildren, Rick (Lisa) Champley, Phyllis (John) Rosenthal, Phillip (Rhoda) Champley, Jim (Cathy) Bergschneider, Cheryl (Greg) Lane, Carol (Jim) Vaughn, Tommy Girard, Joe Girard and Jackie (Keith) Boyd; Many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; 2 sisters in law; Many nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Community of Christ Church with Pastor Lori Smothers officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home.Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville is in charge of arrangements.
