Ora was a very nice person - she was my friend and I was so happy to know her. She had a great sense of humor and she loved to dance (ballroom and polka both) RIP sweet lady.

Ora Marie Verardi, 85 of Taylorville passed away at 9:05 PM on Monday, September 22, 2014 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.She was born on March 1, 1929 at Taylorville the daughter of Armando and Rose (Buff) Gherardi. She married Alphonse Verardi on March 20, 1948 at Taylorville; he preceded her in death on September 11, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her parents; Son, Gerald Verardi on April 23, 1999 and a brother, Emil Gherardi.Ora worked for the State of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, retiring after 25 years of service. She was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1425 and American Legion Post 73 Auxiliary.Survivors include: Sisters, Enes Ann Weddle of Kincaid, IL, Claudine (husband, Joe) Puccetti of Chatham, IL and Carmen Jean Coches of Springfield, IL; Many nieces and nephews.Private family funeral services will be held on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville.Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville is in charge of arrangements.
