Ophie J. Tift

Ophie J. Tift, 85 of Sorento passed away at 4:38 AM on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at her home.She was born on November 28, 1928 at Dover, TN the daughter of Newell and Flossie (Powers) Wallace. She married Wilmer W. Tift; he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; Sister, Linda Sue Dowdy; 2 infant sisters; Brothers, Carl Edward Wallace and J.B. Wallace; Grandson, David Lee Stanley; Daughter in law, Chris Tift.Ophie was a homemaker. She enjoyed yard sales, thrift stores and going out to eat. She was a member of Sorento Baptist Church.Survivors include: Daughter, Gale (husband, Terry) Pope of Sorento, IL; Sons, Roger Tift of Taylor Springs, IL and Randy (wife, Faye) Tift of New Douglas, IL; 9 Grandchildren; 21 Great Grandchildren; Sister, Evon Whitford of Granite City, IL; Brothers, Otis (wife, Ruthie) Wallace of Decatur, IL and Leon Wallace of Granite City, IL; Special Niece, Debra Dowdy; Many Nieces, Nephews and Friends.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Sorento Baptist Church with Rev. Gene DeClue officiating. Burial will follow at New Douglas Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Sorento Baptist Church.Memorials are suggested to the family of Ophie J. Tift.Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento is in charge of arrangements.
