1923-2015
Charles J. Hammack, 91, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015.
Charles, a longtime Houston resident and member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, was a WWII Navy veteran and distinguished Chemical Engineer with Sheffield Steel Co., Sinclair Oil Co. and 47 years with Engineers and Fabricators Company of Houston.
God, family, and country were the order and code by which he lived his life.
Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Gladys Lorene Hammack. He is survived by his children: Charles R. Hammack and wife Lenore, Kelly J. Hammack and his wife Gloria, Cynthia L. Steinbach and husband Bernd; 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be 6-8pm Friday, March 6 at Waltrip. Funeral services will be 1pm Saturday, March 7, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1515 Hillendahl in Houston.

Dear Hammack family, both Neal and I are sorry for the loss in your lives of your dad, father in law, grandfather, and a person who witnessed his faith everyday. We know you will miss him but his earthly trials are over now and he is in heaven with his Lord. You all are in our prayers and thoughts, as you live your lives in honor of his.

Had the pleasure of working with Mr Hammack at EFCO for seven years. He was a true Christian man who steadfastly lived for the Lord everyday on the job. I only saw him upset one time. With a calm, low volume voice, he spoke (3) words in the Drafting Dept: "This is intolerable". The room froze. He made his point, and it was understood by all. He was respected by everyone in the office, regardless of rank. Not one person ever spoke a negative comment about him. That was a testimony to his consistent character. His reward will be of great measure in Heaven. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
