Robert's Obituary

Robert J. SmithMorrisville-Robert J. Smith passed away on May 17, 2015 at University of Vermont Medical Center following a short illness. Bob was born in Bristol, VT on October 2, 1923, the son of Joseph and Grace McKinnon Smith. He graduated from Bristol High School in 1943 and served with courage and distinction aboard the USS Arkansas, BB-33 during World War II. Bob worked for the US Postal Service for thirty years, retiring in 1980. Bob and his wife, Janet Norton Smith were married on July 2, 1949. In addition to Janet he is survived by his son, Garry and grandson, Llewellyn Smith (Lisa); great granddaughters, Scarlett and Fiona Smith; daughter, Kathi Monteith (Gregory); grandson, Aaron Simmers; granddaughters, Sarah and Lisa Monteith.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Church in Morrisville. Private burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Bristol, VT.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bob's honor to Lamoille Area Cancer Network, 198 Farr Avenue, Morrisville, VT 05661. Faith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made by visiting faithfhnet.
