Jack D. Cruthis

Jack D. Cruthis, 82 of Sorento passed away at 12:47 AM on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Highland.He was born on November 1, 1933 at Sorento the son of Arthur and Zillah (Redding) Cruthis. He married Peggy Jane Pritchett on October 4, 1958 at Sorento. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, True Halford and Dot Wall, 4 brothers, Olin, Chalmer, Chester and Marvin Cruthis.Jack worked for Laclede Steel in Granite City for 9 years. He retired after many years of service as a laborer working out of Labor Local #397 also in Granite City. He attended Sorento Presbyterian Church and was a member on AMHA (American Quarter Horse Association). He enjoyed gardening and raising horses. He was a family oriented man who loved attending sporting events for his great grandchildren. He was a veteran of the Army.Survivors: Wife, Peggy Jane Cruthis of Sorento, IL; Daughters, Delene (husband, Roger) Marak and Twila Cruthis both of Sorento, IL; Grandchildren, Aimee (Tom), Jaimee (Jared), Brittnee, Emilee (Jason), Wendy (Michael), Kelsi and Kevin; 16 Great Grandchildren; Sister, Gloria "Babe" Justice of East Peoria, IL; Brothers, Willard "Boots" Cruthis of Sorento, IL and Carl (wife, Bobbie) Cruthis of Highland, IL; Many Nieces and Nephews.A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento with Rev. Ralph Ward officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00 PM until time of service at the funeral home.In memory of Jack memorials are suggested to Sorento Sports.Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento is in charge of arrangements.
