Sending my prayers from Baltimore for the loss of my Kuma Augusta. I have such fond nd wonderful memories growing up with Kum Alex and Kuma Augusta in my life as a child. May her memory be eternal.

I am so sorry for the loss of your mom... Some of my best memories growing up in Hopewell was visiting Alex and Gussie. And of course the great gatherings and dinners for Serbian Christmas each year.

Augusta "Baba Gusta"'s Obituaries

Augusta Zeljak, affectionately known as Baba Gusta, 90, of McKeesport and formerly of Aliquippa died on Thursday June 23, 2016. She was born on July 4, 1925 in Noumea, New Caledonia and was the daughter of the late Auguste and Louise Arnaud Guichard. She was the wife of the late Alexander Zeljak. Augusta spent many hours volunteering in various capacities at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in McKeesport and St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church in Aliquippa. She is survived by her son Ted (Diane) Zeljak of Clearwater, FL and daughter Denise "Dee Dee" (Dan) Vranesevic of McKeesport, 4 grandchildren Pamela Zeljak, Ted (Cheryl) Zeljak, Alexis (fiancé Elijah Rach) Vranesevic and Mila (Steve) Conley of White Oak, great grandchildren; Noah and Cora, nieces and nephews. Friends are welcome on Sunday June 26, 2016 from 12 Noon - 6:00 PM at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 1638 Lincoln Way, White Oak. (412) 672-6322 (Troy J. Gilbert- Director). Burial Service and Interment will be held on Monday June 27 at 11:30 am in the Chapel of St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Cemetery 2187 Broadhead Rd. Aliquippa, PA 15001 with the Very Rev. Milan Krstic and the Very Rev. Stevan Rocknage, officiating. (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CEMETERY). In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions to a church of your choice.
