I posted a photo of a pair of A-7's lifting off from PIT. My sincerest condolences to the family, especially Kathy. Bob was a mentor, a man, and an example of how to be a better Citizen Soldier.
Bob is now gone to Glory, greeted by old friends who laughed, and loved, and fought side by side with Bob. The long and thin blue line of Air Guardsmen diminishes again. Every loss is felt by all of the former members of the 112th. Bob's is particularly sad. God hold you in the palm of His...

Robert "Bob" Paul Boback, 87, of Elizabeth Township, died Friday, June 24, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. He was born June 26, 1928 in Clairton and was the son of the late Charles Henry and MaryAnn Kachmarik Boback He was a member, Deacon, Elder and newsletter editor of the Round Hill Presbyterian Church in Elizabeth Township and was also a member and 2nd vice-president of the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He was also a member of the Norwin Art League and taught art classes at the McKeesport Senior Center. Bob volunteered at the McKeesport Senior Center and Mount Vernon Assisted Living where he enjoyed calling Bingo. Mr. Boback retired from the Pennsylvania Air National Guard 112th TAC Fighter Group after 36 years of service and was also an Aircraft Systems Instructor for the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics and CCAC North. Mr. Boback was a US Air Force veteran and served during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joanne Phillis Boback, daughters, Karen J. (Ronald) Galicic of Rostraver and Kathy J. (James) Stewart of Robinson Township, grandchildren, Cameron and Ian Stewart, brother, Martin (Eileen) Boback of St. Petersburg, FL, nephews, a niece, and his faithful dog, "Sunny". Friends are welcome Monday June 27 from 3-7 pm, at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. (412-751-5000) Drew J. Gilbert, Director. Service will be held at the Round Hill Presbyterian Church on Tuesday June 28, at 11:00 am, with The Rev. D. Matthew Stith, officiating. Private interment with Military Honors will held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
