Philip B. Bertoni

Philip B. Bertoni, 67 of Taylorville passed away at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Eastview Terrace in Sullivan.He was born on May 23, 1949 at Taylorville the son of Robert and Helen (Bernardi) Bertoni. Philip was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert D. Bertoni.Philip worked for Peabody Coal Company at Pana for 30 years. He later was employed by the State of Illinois as a computer programmer, retiring in 2014 after 17 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, former secretary for the United Mine Workers of America and a lifetime member of the NRA.Survivors include: Daughter, Rachael Sellers of Flowery Branch, GA; Son, Denny Bertoni of Taylorville, IL; 5 Grandchildren; 1 Great Grandchild; Cousin, Jeff Richardson of Decatur, IL.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home.Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer's Association.Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Taylorville is in charge of arrangements.
