Dear John, Patti and the rest of the Martino family. I am so sorry for the loss of your mom. I know its tough, as I too have been through it. As a female veteran, I want to say thanks for paving the way for women like myself who joined the military decades later. She was indeed, part of the greatest generation.

Thelma's Obituaries

Thelma C. Martino, 95, of Pleasant Hills, formerly of Glassport, died Sunday, July 24, 2016. She was born May 24, 1921 in Magee, MS, and was the daughter of the late Vilas and Lela Thompson Ainsworth. She was the wife of the late Nicholas Martino who died March 14, 2011. She was a member of Queen of the Rosary Church, Glassport and the Glassport American Legion. Thelma was a US Army Air Corps Veteran serving in WWII. She had worked at the former R & J Furniture Store in McKeesport. She is survived by sons, John (Patti) Martino of Verona, and Mark Martino of Plano, Texas, daughter, Lisa (Peter) Kurka of Pleasant Hills, sister, Dorothy French of Magee, MS, grandchildren, Michelle (Todd) Walkowiak of West Mifflin, Christopher Martino of Dallas, TX, and Nicole Kurka of Pleasant Hills, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sons, Gary Martino and Nick Martino, Jr. There is no visitation. Funeral service followed by Military Honors in St. Joseph Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels 2999 Bethel Church Road, Bethel Park, PA 15102.
