Not sure what to say?

Dear Nancy, I met Jimmy about 20 years ago at the dawn of social media through our common interest in a certain TV show. Although we hadn't been in touch for several years, he was a great friend and I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing. Keeping you in my thoughts.

Nancy ~ We have just today learned about Jimmy's accident. We are so sorry for your loss. Even though we haven't seen each other in years, you are part of our everyday lives. Jimmy lives on in the wooden "artifacts" that are in our home and we will never forget the barn that became a house. Please accept our deepest sympathy. Lisa McKinney & Larry Chastain

Sweet Nancy, so incredibly saddened to hear of your loss. Sending you all our love during this difficult time. We hope you are comforted by all the beautiful memories of your life together. Al and Carol

Nancy,
I am so sorry for your loss. I am praying for you and your family. Terri Aaron

Nancy: So very, very sorry for your loss. My heart hurts for you. I sent a donation to Habitat For Humanity in Jimmy's memory. Prayers for all.

Nancy. How shocked I am to hear of you loss. Jimmy was an incredible man and I know you are blessed with an abundance of warm and wonderful memories with him. I will always remember sitting on your roof and looking at the stars and playing in the creek. Kevin and Scott remember his "baby sitting" while we went to the beach. I know God will keep you in his loving arms especially tight during this tough time. Our prayers and our love to you. I wish there were some words. . . . .

Nancy and family,
I was deeply saddened to hear about Jimmy. I graduated from AHS with him, and I will always remember his smile, fun-loving spirit, and kindness. My prayer is that God will comfort you and give you peace that passes understanding in the days ahead.

Obituary

James's Obituary

Mr. James “Jimmy” Maurice Gribble, age 64, of Rome, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, due to an accident.

Jimmy was born in Rome, GA on October 17, 1952, son of James Henry Gribble, Jr. and the late Ethel Mae Henderson Gribble.  He was a graduate of Armuchee High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Literature from Berry College.   Jimmy was self-employed as a Master Craftsman for over 35 years. His artistic abilities were universal, however, his passion was woodworking, and he became a talented master of this craft, pouring his heart into each exquisite piece he created.  In addition to an extended number of projects of his own, he worked at Darlington for 6 years as their Special Projects Woodworks Craftsman.  Jimmy was passionate about the written word, as a result he was a poet and was working with a Poetry board to publish some his works.  He enjoyed playing golf with his dad, listening to music, sharing his quick wit and humor and winning a mean hand of Rook.  Jimmy was a naturally kind, thoughtful and spirited person. His love for his family was deep, true and unconditional. He was blessed with good fortune, family and friends and in his best effort gave back by volunteering with the Habitat for Humanity.  Even though Jimmy made friends all through his life, he cherished and nurtured his childhood friends and loved them dearly.  Nancy was the love of his life, his soul mate and best friend. They shared a beautiful life spanning 44 years.  Nancy believes Jimmy’s love, care, and devotion saved her life during her two battles with ovarian cancer.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Mae Henderson Gribble.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Gribble, of Rome; father, James Henry Gribble, and his wife, Sue, of Rome; sister, Janice Hopkins, and her husband, Jimmy, of Rome; brother, Ronnie Gribble of Rome; sister, Melissa, and her husband, Phillip Taylor, of Mableton, GA; Uncles and Aunts, Donald Gribble of Rome, Lynda Lumpkin, Rome, George Henderson, Dawsonville, GA, and Dan Stephens, and his wife, Janie, Blue Ridge, GA.  Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel at Henderson and Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel with the Rev. Billy Murdock officiating.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.  At other hours, the family may be reached at their residences.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Central Plaza Shopping Center, 10 Central Ave., Rome, GA 30161, 706-378-5957, or Hospitality House for Women, P.O. Box 5163, Rome, GA 30162, 706-235-4608.
