Donald L. Pruett, 87 of Taylorville passed away at 9:25 PM on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.He was born on May 28, 1929 at Fayette County, IL the son of Pete Earl and Nellie (Kistler) Pruett. Donald married Betty L. Lansford on March 22, 1947 at Vandalia; she preceded him in death on February 8, 1998. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Sons, Donald L. "Bud" Pruett and Oscar I. "Ike" Pruett, Daughters, Linda Kay Pruett and Nancy Jo Pruett, Brother, Ivan Pruett, Sister, Janet Bohle and Son in law, Paul Boulanger.Donald worked for many years as a laborer in the oil fields. He also farmed, worked for the State of Illinois and was a grounds keeper for Pinehurst Golf Course, Pinehurst NC. Donald enjoyed spending time outdoors.Survivors include: Son, Glenn Pruett of Taylorville, IL; Daughters, Nella (Husband, Donald) Vandenbergh of Taylorville, IL, Teena Boulanger of Jeisyville, IL and Sherrie Barnes of Kentucky; Several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; Sister, Judy (Husband, Jess) Bateman of Vandalia, IL; Several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville with Rev. Dayle Badman officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Visitation will be held on Friday from Noon until time of service at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home.Donald's family has requested that casual attire be worn.Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville is in charge of arrangements.
