Dean E. Voorhees

Dean E. Voorhees, 84 of Taylorville passed away at12:50 AM on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Taylorville Care Center.He was born on March 28, 1933 at Raritan, Illinois the son of Andrew and Kathryn (Matheny) Voorhees. Dean Married Carolyn Curvey on March 29, 1953 at Palmer Advent Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, J.R. Voorhees.Dean was supervisor of the finishing room at Georgia Pacific, retiring after many years of service. He was a social member of VFW Post 4495 and a member of their Military Funeral Honor Guard. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and past President of Avion Travel Cade Club. Dean loved to camp and fish and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan. He was a US Army veteran.Survivors include: His wife, Carolyn Voorhees of Taylorville, IL; Daughter, Patricia (husband, Tony) Lush; Son, Ed (wife, Linda) Voorhees of Morrisonville, IL; 7 grandchildren, Travis (Melissa) Lush, Jarrod Lush, Joshua (Kristi) Lush, Lela (Mark) Ferrill, Jeffrey Voorhees, Andy Voorhees and Abby Voorhees; 13 great grandchildren; Sister, Lois Ann (husband, Leroy) Marburger of Palmer, IL; Several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville with Pastor Chad Foster officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Anderson Cemetery in Palmer. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 AM until time of service at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home.Memorials are suggested to Taylorville VFW Post #4495.Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville is in charge of arrangements.
