GAGE, Charles Alvin - Of Flushing, age 87, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Medilodge of Montrose surrounded by his family.
Funeral service will be held 11am Monday, August 21, 2017 at Messiah Lutheran Church 520 Butler Street, Clio,
Pastor Erik Cloeter officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery at 1pm Wednesday, August 23, 2017.

Visitation 2-8pm Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Charles son, Randy will speak in his honor at 3 p.m. Sunday. Visitation will be at the church from 10am Monday until the time of the service.
Charles was born in Flint on March 12, 1930, the son of the late Virginia and Russell Gage. He graduated from Beecher High School, Class of 1948 and attended G.M.I. Charles was Honorably Discharged after serving in the Army as a Master Sgt. from the Wolfhound 27thth Infantry during the Korean War from 1951-1953. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio. Charles was also on the Beecher Board of Education for 12 years and the Mt Morris Township Housing Commission for 25 years and as President for 15 years. He retired from Truck and Bus in 1979 after 30 years of service and was a member of UAW Local # 598. He belonged to the Beecher Lions Club, the Flushing Moose Lodge for many years and was also Director of Summer Youth Workers at Mt. Morris Township. Charles was a Leo Crow V.F.W. Life Member. Charles was a wonderful carpenter and was a member of the Mid-Michigan Art Guild. He had a big heart, always helping someone. He was a great Husband, Dad, Papa and Friend. “Rest in Peace Papa”.
Surviving are wife of 60 years, Shirley;
Children, Randy (Chris) of Grand Blanc, Cindy Ostrowski of Flushing;
Step-daughter Deana;
6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his son, Rusty.
