CHARLESTON, IL – Norma Jeane Ashby, age 90 of Charleston, joined her family in Heaven on Thursday, September 14, 2017 while at Charleston Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. A Graveside Service honoring and celebrating her life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Roselawn Cemetery with Pastor Tom Farris officiating. It is requested that thoughtful donations in her honor be made to the Coles County Animal Shelter. Gifts may be left at the graveside service or mailed in care of Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920.
Norma was born April 6, 1927, in Charleston, Illinois, one of twelve children born to Charles and Donnie May (Darling) Ward. She is survived by three of her four children, Larry Woolever and wife Penny of Mattoon, Illinois, Jeanne Ashby-Schacht of Mahomet, Illinois and Marty Lang and husband Ric of rural Charleston; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Kay Huddlestun and husband Troy, Corrina Lynn Woolever, Stacey Lee Wooden and husband Kevin, Tema Sue Metzler-Howard and husband John, Chad Joe Woolever, Rikki Danielle Lang, Reid Marshall Schacht and wife Sara; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded by a son Dan Woolever and his wife Vickie; and her eleven siblings.
Norma cherished her home and family and loved her role as a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed the company of others during an evening of BINGO and especially on car rides around town and through the country; and the company of her cats and working word search puzzles when at home. A brush, a mirror and lipstick were never far away as she always wanted to look her best. In addition to her sense of humor Norma possessed a kind and gentle spirit.
Norma’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Charleston Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Dr. Carl Johnson and Dr. John Lauer for all their assistance and the compassionate and wonderful care extended to her and to them.
