Lois was a lovely lady without and within. I remember talking to her many times at the East Side Wilb Walker store and then when we lived on Circle Drive. My heart goes out to her family. May God bless and comfort you.

To all of Lois's family may you find peace and comfort in the Lord. Lois was a wonderful woman with an infectious smile. Missed her so much when she couldn't attend church anymore. I'm sure Hazel and her have a lot to catch up on. Sorry I can't attend services. My love and prayers to all of you.

Rest In Peace Lois. I pray that Alzheimer's doesn't exist in Heaven and she will once again be able to recognize all those lost faces.
Blessings to my cousins as they release their mom into God's hands.

Lois was born June 5, 1933, in rural Hindsboro, Illinois, a daughter of the late Elden and Hazel (Innes) Childress. She married John E. Snider on March 9, 1951 in Oakland, Illinois and they enjoyed 57 years of marriage prior to his death on November 3, 2008. Lois is survived by those who lovingly called her mom: Karen Gannaway and husband Lyle of rural Lerna, Illinois, Kathy Spence and husband Mark of Charleston and Kevin Snider and wife Paula also of rural Lerna, Illinois; her six precious grandchildren, Nichole Nolte (fiancé Andy Hooten), Nathan (Stephanie) Gannaway, Holly Misener, Emily (Adam) Phipps, Krista (Jerry) Baker and Kelsi (Justin) Hudson; her four step-grandchildren she gained through marriage, Aiden Ethington (Krista), Matt Ethington (Heather), Tyler Sibigtroth and Jordan Sibigtroth; 20 (soon to be 22) beautiful great-grandchildren; and her sister, Marilyn Coon of West Point, Mississippi. Lois was also predeceased by a brother and his wife, Rex (Daphne) Childress and a brother-in-law, Fred Coon.
Lois was a graduate of Oakland High School and a longtime member of the Bushton Christian Church. She served as Superintendent of the Art Hall at the Coles County Fair, a position she held from high school and for the next fifty plus years. Lois helped John with the family farm located northeast of Charleston in Morgan Township, but most will remember her as their “favorite checker” at the Wilb Walkers East Grocery Store and later at County Market.
Lois was a collector of bluebirds as well as Pillsbury Doughboy and Shirley Temple collectibles. She loved animals and none was more loved than her canine companion, Max! Lois was the matriarch of her family and she was happiest when sharing life’s special moments with them. Her love and devotion for each and every one was unquestionable. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will always cherish their many treasured memories.
