Lorraine's Obituary

Funeral services for Lorraine M. Hansen, 76, of Norfolk will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, Norfolk. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Norfolk. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Home for Funerals, Norfolk, Nebraska.

            Lorraine died Friday, September 29, 2017 at Faith Regional Health Services.

            Lorraine was born July 11, 1941 to Leslie Albert and Mary Bertha (Becker) Ronk near Coleridge in Cedar County. When she was 1 year old they moved to Norfolk. In 1945 the family moved to Brighton, CO for a short time and then moved back to Norfolk. In 1952 they moved to Wisner where her parents owned a jewelry store. They lived there until the death of her father in 1955. They moved back to Norfolk and Lorraine graduated from Norfolk High School in 1959. While in high school Lorraine babysat and worked at Fashion City. After graduating Lorraine worked as a secretary at the Nebraska Psychiatric Institute with a research office at the Norfolk State Hospital for 5 years.

In 1961 she married Larry Pete Hansen at First United Methodist Church in Norfolk. To this union 3 daughters were born, Lesley Christine, Lynne Diane and Lori Lorraine. Norfolk has been their home since they were married. Lorraine took time off from working to raise her family and was active in many school activities. She was a room mother for several years, and a room mother chairman. Was Vice President of the PTA at Grant School, was a 4H leader in cooking, sewing and crocheting.

In 1978 Lorraine went to work at Tobers Fashions as a seamstress. In 1985 she started working at Osborn Motors as a receptionist. From 1987 until 1992 she worked at TGS Marketing and then at Scheer’s Ace Hardware as an assistant bookkeeper, retiring in 2009.

            Lorraine was baptized and confirmed at First United Methodist church, and has been a lifelong member there. Lorraine loved crafts, sewing, quilting, crocheting and most of all her family.

            Lorraine is survived by her husband Larry, her 3 daughters and husbands, Lesley Hansen, Lynne and Dennis Geiger and Lori and Terry Hagge, 6 grandsons, Benjamin, Adam and Colby Geiger, Tyler (Anna), Henry, and Samuel Hagge, a great-grandson, Eli Hagge, 2 brothers, Leslie (Patricia) Ronk of Clarksville, TN, Lyle Ronk of Pilger, a sister Elaine (John) Harmer of Lenexa, KS, and several nieces and nephews.

            She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Vernon and sister-in-law Betty Ronk, sister-in-law Marvalea Ronk and a nephew David Ronk.
