CHARLESTON, IL – Carl L. Dolson, age 61 of Indianapolis, Indiana and formerly of Peoria, Illinois, passed away on September 30, 2017 at Indiana University Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Services honoring and celebrating his life will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 6, 2017 with Joe Griffith officiating. A graveside committal will follow at 3:00 p.m. at York Cemetery, West Union, Illinois with Steve Dolson officiating. It is requested that in lieu of flowers, thoughtful donations in his honor be made to the West Union Public Library or Brownsburg, Indiana Police Department. Gifts may be left at the visitation or service or mailed in care of Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920.
Carl was born May 7, 1956, in Winamac, Indiana, a son of Ernest Eugene and Doris Irene (McCrory) Dolson. He married Marsha Knoop on June 4, 1977 in Charleston, Illinois. In addition to Marsha, his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, he is survived by their children, Chris Dolson and wife Nicole and Stacy Dolson and husband Jaspreet Singh all of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Charlotte Dolson and Shiloh Singh; his mother, Doris Irene Dolson of West Union, Illinois; his three brothers, Steve (Anita) Dolson, David (Bonnie Futrell) Dolson, and twin brother Mark (Cathy Roche) Dolson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
Carl was a CPA and Tax Partner with RSM McGladrey in Peoria, IL until his retirement. Prior to his lifetime career as a CPA he attended Charleston High School where he lettered in Cross Country and graduated as Valedictorian of his class in 1974. He went on to attend Eastern Illinois University where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in two years. Carl was very intelligent and was not only a member but eventually held the position of President for the Illinois Chess Association.Carl loved genealogy and took an interest in not only his family line but his wife Marsha’s as well. He was a frequent stock market trader, and loved to watch the stocks daily. In Carl’s more recent years he really enjoyed fantasy football and was known for being an enthusiastic fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. Carl’s love for his family was unquestionable and enjoyed the special times he was in the company of his wife, children and especially his grandchildren.
