Chuck was born October 14, 1945 in Evanston, Illinois, the youngest of eight children born to Jack and Delores (Ayers) Cummings. He married Lois Bueltmann on September 2, 1967 in Arlington Heights, Illinois and they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. In addition to Lois, left to cherish fond memories are his children, Michaelle Catlett and husband Patrick, Charles W. Cummings and wife Erica, and Dawn Dickhut and husband Jeffrey; ten grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Cimbalo (Richard) and Sandy Jones; a brother, John Cummings; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters.
Chuck was a 27 year employee of JJ Collins, working first in the Chicago area and later at their Charleston location. He was a member of East Harrison Street Church of God.
Chuck’s interests were diverse and his talents were many. He loved to fly and had taken lessons toward certification as a private pilot. His carpentry skills were evident in the furniture and RC model airplanes he designed and built. His musical abilities were God given as he could play the piano by ear and was a drummer in a band. He loved the sport of hockey and in his earlier years served as a goalie for a hockey team. His creativity always kept him busy with some new project. Chuck also had a great sense of humor and excelled at making others laugh, making him a hit with many of his nieces and nephews and a favored uncle. His love for the Cubs, the Bears, an Italian Beef Combo, and a Chicago Style Pizza will always be remembered. Chuck was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by those who loved him most.
