RUTHERFORD, Mr. John-age 57, of Flint, passed away Friday, October 27, 2017 at McLaren-Flint.  Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday, November 3, 2017 with a 10:30 am family hour at Refuge Temple Church of Flint 4400 W. Carpenter Rd., Flint, MI 48504.  Minister Michael Cobbin officiating.  Pastor Matthew Jackson Host Pastor.  The final resting place for Mr. Rutherford will be River Rest Cemetery, Flint, MI.  Calling hours are 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Sheldon T. Banks Funeral Chapel 3021 S. Dort Hwy., Flint, MI 48507.Mr. John Irwin Rutherford was born August 16, 1960 in Flint, Michigan, the son of George and Muriel Rutherford.John attended Flint Community Schools and was a graduate of Northern High School “Class of 1978.” He enjoyed watching football, basketball and playing dominoes. He loved being around all of his family especially his grandchildren.John leaves to cherish his memory: the mothers of his children, Robyn Cobbin and Teresa McCoy; son, Eric Lamarr Cobbin of Flint, MI; daughter, ShaDonna (Tyrockie) McCoy of Grand Blanc, MI; 4 granddaughters, Tasharee, Amariye, Myciana and Gianna McCoy-Williams of Grand Blanc, MI; step mother, Juanita Banks-Rutherford; 6 brothers, Richard (Frances) Young, Anthony (Freda) of Alaska, George, Steven (Patricia), Vincent (Cecilia), and Carl Rutherford all of Flint; 4 sisters, Beverly (Charlie) Morris, Shirley (Ellis) McGee, Elaine and Pamela Rutherford all of Flint, MI; step siblings, Bobby (Roslynne) Banks, Belinda Banks of Phoenix, AZ, and Redonna Banks of Grand Blanc, MI; special brother, Richard Seaman of Flint; aunts, Laurice Cox of Johnson City, TN and Beverly Buford of Philadelphia, PA; uncle, Herphon (Alice) Rutherford of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including Peggy Richards, Freddie “Rock” Riddle, Maurice “Muddy” Shumpert, Kent Miles, Aldridge “Buster” Cureton, Rick Buggs, Dennis Jackson, Teanna “TT” Smith and Karen Green.Mr. John Rutherford was preceded in death by: parents, George and Muriel Rutherford; brother, Melvin Rutherford, step sister, Deborah Banks; step son, Curtis Richard; nephew, Julius Rutherford; uncle, Carlton (Lottie) Rutherford.The family would like to express special thanks to Henry Ford Health System-Detroit, McLaren-Flint, Dr. Khoulani, and Sheldon T.
